Records financial transactions related to Austin's jewelry business from 1858 to 1861. Materials he purchased include gold, silver, metals, acids, and tools. The bulk of the entries are for repairs and sales to such well known firms as Tiffany and Company, Ball, Black, and Co., and Baldwin and Co. Types of jewelry listed include enameled earrings, brooches with corals, stones, cameos, mosaic centers, bracelets, chatelaine pins, etc. A bill made out to Tiffany & Co. for gold ladies card cases, earrings and a pin, and a necklace is laid in.

Tiffany and Company was was founded in 1837 by the jeweler Charles Lewis Tiffany. It started as a stationary and fine goods store and named "Tiffany, Young and Ellis" for its three founders. It changed its name in 1853 when Charles Tiffany took control and established the firm's emphasis on jewelry. In addition to jewelry, Tiffany supplied the Union Army with swords, flags and surgical implements during the Civil War and designed the "Tiffany Cross" Medal of Honor in 1919....
